లక్షల్లో వస్తున్న జీతం వదులుకుని అన్నదాతగా మారిన మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డిని బంధువులు, స్నేహితులు, గ్రామస్తులు చాలా చిన్నచూపు చూశారట! ఢిల్లీలో జగ్జీవన్రామ్ అభినవ్ కిసాన్ పురస్కారాన్ని అందుకున్నప్పటి నుంచీ తన భర్త విజయాన్ని గొప్పగా చెప్పుకుంటున్నారని మల్లికార్జునరెడ్డి సతీమణి సంధ్య ముచ్చటగా చెబుతున్నారు. మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి కష్టపడే తత్వం, ఆయన ఆవిష్కరణ ద్వారా వచ్చిన ప్రతిఫలాన్ని తామంతా అనుభవిస్తున్నామన్నారు.
అమీర్ఖాన్ నిర్వహించిన టాక్ షో ‘సత్యమేవ జయతే’, ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయవేత్త సుభాష్ పాలేకర్, రాజీవ్ దీక్షిత్ నుంచి తాను ప్రభావితుడ్ని అయ్యానని మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి చెప్పారు. వారు చెప్పిన విధానంలో వ్యవసాయం చేయాలని, అందులోనూ ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయం చేయాలని తాను నిర్ణయించుకున్నానంటారు.
మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి ప్రతి రోజు పొలంలో 12 గంటల పని షెడ్యూల్ వేసుకుని కష్టపడతారు. ‘ఐయామ్ వన్ మ్యాన్ ఆర్మీ’ అంటూ జోక్ చేస్తారు మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి. ప్రతిరోజు తెల్లవారు జామున 4 గంటల నుంచే ఆయన దినచర్య మొదలవుతుంది. లేచిన తర్వాత వ్యవసాయ క్షేత్రంలోకి వెళ్లడానికి ముందుగా తాను పెంచుతున్న గొర్రెలు, మేకలకు, ఆవులకు మేత అందిస్తారు మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి. ఓపెన్ బావిలో 600 చేపల్ని కూడా ఆయన ఎంతో ఇష్టపడి పెంచుతున్నారు. వ్యవసాయ క్షేత్రంలో ప్రతిరోజూ మల్లికార్జునరెడ్డి కనీసం 26 వేల అడుగులు నడుస్తారట. తద్వారా సాగురైతుగా మారిన తర్వాత తాను ఆరు కిలోల బరువు తగ్గానని నవ్వుతూ చెబుతారు.
రైతుగా మారి ఈ సాఫ్ట్వేర్ ఇంజనీర్ హైదరాబాద్లోని కూకట్పల్లి హౌసింగ్ బోర్డులో ఆర్గానిక్ ఉత్పత్తుల షాప్ తెరిచారు. అందులో తమ గ్రామంలోని గ్రూపు రైతులు పండించిన పలు రకాల ఆర్గానిక్ ఉత్పత్తులను విక్రయిస్తుంటారు. ఆర్గానికి ఫార్మింగ్ వాతావరణ సమతుల్యతను కాపాడుతుందని మల్లికార్జునరెడ్డి అన్నారు. ఆరోగ్యాన్ని కాపాడడంలో ఆర్గానిక్ ఉత్పత్తులు ఎంతగానో తోడ్పడతాయన్నారు.
సమీకృత వ్యవసాయ విధానంలో మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి మంచి అనుభవం సంపాదించారు. వ్యవసాయ క్షేత్రంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన కుంటలు, బావుల్లో వర్షపునీటిని నిల్వచేస్తారు. తద్వారా భూగర్భ జలాల స్థాయిలో బాగా పెరిగాయి. పొలాల్లోని కుంటలు, బావుల్లో వర్షపునీటిని నిల్వచేయడం ద్వారా భూగర్భ జలాల్ని ఎలా పెంచుకోవచ్చో ఇతర రైతుల్లో కూడా అవగాహన కల్పిస్తున్నారు మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి. అలాగే విషపూరిత రసాయనాలను ఇష్టం వచ్చినట్లు వాడడం ద్వారా ఎంతగా నష్టపోతున్నదీ సహచర రైతుల్లో ఆయన అవగాహన కల్పిస్తున్నారు.
మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి తన ఆర్గానిక్ ఫార్మింగ్లో కేవలం కుళ్లిన వ్యర్థ పదార్థాలు, బయో వ్యర్థాల నుంచి తయారు చేసిన ఎరువుల్నే వాడుతున్నారు. వ్యవసాయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం 11 ఏళ్ల పాటు చేసిన పరిశోధనల ఫలితంగా ఈ తరహా ఎరువుల్ని తయారుచేస్తున్నానన్నారు. రాజేంద్రనగర్లోని ప్రొఫెసర్ జయశంకర్ వ్యవసాయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఆవిష్కరణల ద్వారా తాను క్రమంగా విజ్ఞానాన్ని, అనుభవాన్ని పెంచుకున్నానన్నారు. రసాయనాలతో చేసే సాగు కన్నా ఆర్గానిక్ విధానంలో తాను పండిస్తున్న పంటల ద్వారా అధికాదాయం సంపాదిస్తున్నానని మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి వెల్లడించారు. రసాయనాలతో చేసే వ్యవసాయంలో 60 క్వింటాళ్ల వరిధాన్యం పండించాలంటే కనీసం 50 వేల రూపాయలు పెట్టుబడి పెట్టాల్సి వస్తుందని, అయితే ఆర్గానిక్ వ్యవసాయ విధానంలో తాను అంటే పంట ఉత్పత్తి చేయడానికి కేవలం 25 వేలు మాత్రమే ఖర్చు చేస్తున్నానని, ఆదాయం మాత్రం లక్షా 13 వేల వస్తోందని చెబుతారు.
ఆర్గానిక్ విధానంలో వ్యవసాయం చేయాలనే ఆలోచన తనకు అకస్మాత్తుగా వచ్చింది కాదంటారు మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి. హైదరాబాద్లో తాను ఐటీ ఉద్యోగం చేస్తున్న రోజుల్లో తమ గ్రామం నుంచి, బంధువులు రకరకాల రోగాల కారణంగా ఆస్పత్రులకు వచ్చేవారని, వేలు, లక్షలు ఖర్చు పెట్టి వైద్యం చేయించుకోవడం తాను కళ్లారా చూశానని అంటారు. అలా వారికి వివిధ అనారోగ్య సమస్యలు రావడానికి కారణం విష రసాయనాలు వాడి పండించిన ఆహారోత్పత్తులు తినడం వల్లే అని డాక్టర్లు చెప్పేవారన్నారు. డాక్టర్లు చెప్పిన మాటలు విన్న తర్వాత తనలో ఆర్గానిక్ ఫార్మింగ్ పట్ల ఆలోచనలు మొదలయ్యాయన్నారు. హాని చేసే రసాయనాలు వాడకుండా పంటలు పండించాలనే నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నాన్నారు. ఉద్యోగం వదిలేసి, రైతుగా మారానని మల్లికార్జున్రెడ్డి వెల్లడించారు.
