వ్యాధినిరోధక శక్తినిచ్చే సిట్రస్‌ జాతి పండ్లలో కమలాఫలాలది ప్రత్యేక స్థానం. కమలాల గుజ్జు, జ్యూస్, పానీయాల తయారీలో కమలా ఫలాలకు బాగా డిమాండ్ ఉంది. కమలా ఫలాల సాగు ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా విరివిగా జరుగుతోంది. మాల్టా బత్తాయి, కిన్నోఆరెంజ్, బ్లడ్ ఆరెంజ్, బిట్టర్‌ ఆరెంజ్, వెలన్షియా, నేవల్ ఆరెంజ్, టర్కీ, బియాండో కోమున్‌, చింటు, మోరో, మాండరిన్, విమాన, బెర్నా లాంటి 400 రకాల కమలాలను వివిధ దేశాల్లో రైతులు పండిస్తున్నారు.
తూర్పుగోదావరి జిల్లా కడియపులంకలోని శివాంజనేయ నర్సరీ మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కల్ని పెంచి, విక్రయిస్తోంది. కుండీల్లో పెరిగి, పంట ఇరగ కాసే మాండరిన్ మొక్కల్ని కొనేందుకు, చూసేందుకు వియోగదారులు ఎంతో ఆసక్తితో వస్తుంటారు. ఒక్కో మాండరిన్ మొక్క సుమారు వెయ్యి కమలా ఫలాలు దిగుబడి ఇస్తుంది. మాండరిన్ మొక్క చుట్టూ కమలా పలాలు ఇరగ కాసిన తర్వాత చూసేందుకు రెండు కళ్లు చాలవంటే అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. కుండీల్లోనే సుమారు ఆరు, ఏడు అడుగుల ఎత్తు ఎదిగి మాండరిన్ మొక్క చుట్టూరా కమలా పండ్లతో నిండి కనువిందు చేస్తుంది. ఆరోగ్యానికి ఆరోగ్యం, కను విందుగా కనిపిస్తాయి కాబట్టే ఒక్కో మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కను రూ.25 నుంచి 30 వేల రూపాయలకు కొనుగోలు చేసి తీసుకెళ్లేందుకు వినియోగదారులు ఆశక్తి చూపిస్తుంటారు. మొక్క ఎత్తు పెరిగే కొద్దీ రెండు వేల కమలా ఫలాల దిగుబడి వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. 
మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కల్ని కుండీల్లో పెంచుకోవచ్చు. అంటే టెర్రస్‌ మీద కుండీల్లో కూడా వీటిని పెంచుకోవచ్చు. ఇంటి ముందు కూడా పెంచుకుంటే ఇంటికి అందానికి అందాన్నిస్తాయి. ఆరోగ్యదాయకం కూడా. మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలను తోటలుగా కూడా పెంచుకోవచ్చు. కుండీల్లో మొక్కలే వేలాది కాయలు కాస్తుంటే.. పొలంలో పెంచితే మరింత ఎక్కువ దిగుబడి ఇచ్చే అవకాశం ఉందని నర్సరీ యజమాని మల్లు పోలరాజు చెప్పారు. మహారాష్ట్ర, నాగ్‌ పూర్‌, ఉత్తర ప్రదేశ్‌ రాష్ట్రాల రైతులు మాండరిన్ కమలా పంట సాగుచేస్తున్నట్లు నర్సరీ యజమాని వెల్లడించారు.
మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కల పెంపకానికి ప్రత్యేకంగా జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకోవాల్సిన అవసంర ఉండదు. బత్తాయి, నారింజ, నిమ్మ చెట్లను పెంచినట్లే మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కల్ని కూడా పెంచుకోవచ్చు. పెరట్లో పెంచుకోవడానికి కూడా మాండరిన్ కమలా అనువైనది. చీడ పీడల నివారణకు అవసరమైన పద్ధతులు పాటిస్తూ ఎవరైనా ఎక్కడైనా మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలు పెంచుకోవచ్చు. అయితే.. మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలను ఆరుబయట మాత్రమే పెంచుకోవాలి. ఇండోర్‌ లో పెంచితే పూత, పిందె సరిగా రాదు.
నాగ్‌ పూర్‌, ఢిల్లీ, ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్‌ నుంచి తెచ్చిన కమలా రకాల మొక్కలు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ లో అంతగా ఫలితాలు ఇవ్వడం లేదని కొందరు రైతులు చెబుతున్నారు. ఆ రకాల మొక్కల కమలా ఫలాలు కాస్త పెద్దవిగా ఉన్నప్పటికీ రైతుకు అంత లాభదాయకంగా ఉండడం లేదట. ఈ కారణంతో ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ లో కమలా సాగు చాలా తక్కువే అని చెప్పొచ్చు. మహారాష్ట్రలో కమలా సాగు ఎక్కువ జరుగుతుంది. ఇటీవలి కాలంలో అనంతపురం జిల్లాలో కూడా కమలా సాగు బాగానే జరుగుతోంది. తూర్పు, పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లాల్లో కమలా సాగు అంతంత మాత్రం అనే చెప్పాలి.
చైనా ఆరెంజ్ అని పిలిచే మాండరిన్ రకం చిన్న కమలా మొక్క రెండు వేల కాయలు దిగుబడి ఇస్తుంది. తర్వాతి సంవత్సరాల్లో మరింత అధికంగా కాయలు కాసే అవకాశాలు ఉంటాయని పోలరాజు ఆశాభావం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. కుండీల్లో కంటే భూమిలో నాటి మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలు రసాయన ఎరువులు కాకుండా ఆర్గానిక్ మందులు వాడి పెంచితే పండ్ల సైజు మరింత ఎక్కువ వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉంటుందని అన్నారు.
మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలు పెంచేందుకు రైతులు ఉత్సాహంగా ముందుకు వస్తే.. మరిన్ని మొక్కల్ని దిగుమతి చేసి సరఫరా చేసేందుకు సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నట్లు శివాంజనేయ నర్సరీ యజమాని పోలరాజు చెప్పారు. మాండరిన్ మొక్కలు సరఫరా చేయడమే కాకుండా.. ప్రయోగాత్మకంగా తాము పెంచిన విధానాలు, అనుభవాలను కొనుగోలుదారులకు వివరిస్తారు. నల్లరేగడి, ఎర్ర నేలలు కూడా మాండరిన్ కమలా సాగుకు అనుకూలం. చౌడు భూముల్లో మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కలు పెంచితే ఆశించిన ఫలితాలు ఉండవు.
మాండరిన్ కమలా పంట దిగబడి శీతాకాలంలో వస్తుంది. వేసవికాలంలో చెట్టు పెరుగుతుంది. వర్షాకాలంలో పూత వస్తుంది. శీతాకాలంలో కాయ పక్వానికి వస్తుంది. మాండరిన్ కమలా సాగుకు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ వాతావరణం అనుకూలమని, సాగు కోసం ప్రత్యేకంగా శ్రద్ధ తీసుకోనక్కర్లేదని పోలరాజు చెప్పారు. నిమ్మ, నారింజ, బత్తాయి సాగు చేసే రైతులకు వాటి సాగు విధానాలు బాగా తెలుస్తాయి కాబట్టి వాటి మాదిరిగానే మాండరిన్ కమలా పంట సాగు చేసుకోవచ్చు. మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కకు రోజూ నీరు సరఫరా చేయడం తప్ప ఇతర యాజమాన్య పద్ధతులు కూడా చేయక్కర లేదు. కాపు కాసిన తర్వాత మాండరిన్ కమలా మొక్కకు ఎలాంటి చీడ పీడలు ఆశించవు. పూత, పిందె దశలో మాత్రమే చీడపీడలు వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉందని పోలరాజు చెప్పారు. పూత, పిందె దశలో మంచు కారణంగా పేనుబంక, నల్లబూజు వచ్చే అవకాశాలు ఉంటాయి. అలాంటప్పుడు ఉద్యానవనశాఖ అధికారుల సూచనలు, సలహాలు తీసుకుని నివారించుకుంటే సరిపోతుంది.
మాండరిన్ కమలా సాగు రైతుకు మంచి లాభాలు తెచ్చిపెడుతుంది. మార్కెట్‌ లో కూడా ఈ రకం కమలాలకు బాగా డిమాండ్ ఉంది. ఎగుమతి అవకాశాలు కూడా ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయి. ఔత్సాహికులు మాండరిన్ కమలా పంట సాగుచేసుకుంటే ఉపయోగం ఉంటుందని చెప్పొచ్చు.
